A place I will visit when next in Melbourne. I visited the Sydney Museum some years ago. A valuable, sobering and informative experience. Reality. Wonderful people as guides. Highly recommended. A memorial to ordinary people, families, and children going about their lives, and caught up in monstrous horrible events.

it should be said that like anti Semites exist in non jews there are pockets of jews that hate non jews the main difference seems to be only one group can fall back on a moral high ground because of the holocaust. I never ask a persons religion if someone's an ass to me I call them an ass not their entire race religion.

How sad it is to watch history repeating itself. To watch politicians once more demonizing civilians from both sides as being unworthy of of a ceasefire and unworthy of sanctity due to grotesque overspending and mismanagement that neighbouring nations have within their own countries. We will be witnessing a new holocaust due to this negligence and failure of democracy. Reason has departed the cultural zeitgeist. Now the conversation centres solely on winning and losing, on beating the other side rather than working towards a compromise.

Its probably the same people who are criticizing other testimony survivors and their stories. How much do you want to bet they are just illiterate, rude "Deniers", Who haven't a clue about anything to do with the past. Theres a word, a "term" for these people, besides being troublemakers... they are the "Disbelievers" (or so they say they disbelieve), but not just during and about the traumas, starvation, killings and deaths around the Holocaust and war, but with Everything. They claim that "much of history is exaggerated or a farce, a lie. So all they do is write cynical, negative stuff, "poisoned talk". to get peoples attention. Its a bad excuse for some bad attention. and these people should be ashamed of themselves, but of course they're not.

Every single person who helped the girl put their lives, and the lives of their family, at risk by saving her. So I imagine these people suffered terrible anxiety, which is probably why some were less than perfect carers.

David spoke his words, his story, very well and to the point. His ending words spoken so eloquently, rings true. His parting words to warn us now, these days, of how a cultured country and its people could change so differently so fast and become so poisoned. These people's thinking swayed and convinced to do unspeakable evil to another people just because they are different in some way or manner, just because of what they are, and it took only one evil, demented, convincing speaker to sway a countrys people to kill millions (or to allow it o happen), just because of who and what they were. Unfortunately, it is becoming this way again, people killing groups of other people for not being like themselves, or of other evil excuses to kill. It is sad, and also tragic, what happened with the Holocaust people in Europe. But this is the US, in the twenty first century, and our people are acting and killing for no good reason here, as it once had begun in Europe in the 30's. Possibly history does repeat itself. God knows this rage and blood lust thing is happening around the globe. God Forbid there would be a global Holocaust. So, with everything David had to say, his testimony was more than worthy. and his parting words... BRAVO.. Well spoken. Bless him and his family for convincing him to speak out & give testimony.

Henri and his sister had gone through a lot more as Hidden Children, in some ways, more than his parents had, as his parents knew what was going on and happening. If things weren't right or getting too crazy and radical with the people hiding them, or too close to being turned in, they could leave and find another person and hiding place to hide.. these children were at the mercies of strangers, which some weren't very empathetic, nor merciful toward them; as with the one woman forcing her religion on them, scaring them with her fanatical anti-Jewish lies, hoarding their food, and just being an all-around Witch with the way she treated them. Some 'Hidden Children' were treated good, and some treated at least humanely, but some were treated so poorly, it was a torture, a hell within four walls, even as they were being hidden. It must have been terrible for Henri and his sister, their time away from family and their ordeals alone, but finally it ended, and their immediate family survived their ordeals and the war. Thank God, for that. But Henri is wrong in saying his Hidden Child story and testimony wasn't so important. It Was, it Is! We should know every aspect and every story. There isn't just one type or one way or one "Thing" that is more or less important than another. Each story is as different and as important as each person surviving and telling their stories. Bless Henri, for him telling his story... finally.

Thank You, for sharing, although it was too short. But I am happy for you, and your parents.. you survived. Some didn't survive, and worse, some survived and was liberated, but found out not one single relative had survived the Holocaust years. I am also happy for you, that even though the fear and uncertainty of revealing who and what you truly are (in telling your story), that you found a place and a way to reveal which you kept within yourself for so long, your Testimony. It is Liberating, is it not. Matters seem to go "full-circle". There is still unrest and upheaval and cynicism. However, its not only at Jewish people and/or their religion, its at everything and at everyone, for no reason at all. Its sad, and also scary how it is anymore.

This story of a young hidden child in the Holocaust years, her loneliness, sadness, her confusion of what was happening to her and why it was. To be parted from her family without even the simplest of explanations, my heart went out to her. Not able to express her feelings, her fears to strangers, she kept it inside herself and suffered alone. I can't imagine how she felt.. no doubt she felt abandoned by her parents, and unwanted and a hinderance to at least some of her (so-called) saviors, her pseudo families during that time. True, these people did above and beyond what was a humane thing to do.. even though some (if not all) had never allowed her nor themselves to express any kind of caring beyond the superficial type. I can only imagine what she went through. There were many "Hidden Children" of the Holocaust years, who felt abandoned by parents, and although (maybe or maybe not) felt neglected and a hinderance. feeling utterly separate and "alone", while burying all of these negative feelings deep inside themselves. And last, some of these Hidden Holocaust Children, sadly and unfortunately were not only not able to re-bond with parents (afterwards), but when having their own children, they were distant, in ways, with their children. They had become desensitized during the times of being moved from stranger to stranger family so often, it became a way of coping, and a way of life at that time. I cannot imagine this of any adult for very long, let alone a very young child who didn't and couldn't have-a-clue. Bless Floris, for telling her story, as a Hidden Child of the Holocaust. She and they had to go through their own kind of Hell, even as they were hidden. Some tortures are Not physical, some are emotional and psychological (and can be worse).
